A Short Explanation of my Professional Life

Nowadays 🌳

My professional path started more than 30 years ago and nowadays it’s in its highest point of expertise and know-how.

I’m currently employed as the Key Account Manager at VARPE, a leader company in the inspection and quality assurance field for FMCG products, dealing mostly with food industry manufacturers.

In this role I’m in charge of a selected group of accounts, taking care Varpe delivers them the right solutions and services, on top of achieving the business goals for this business segment. Furthermore I’m also leading the introduction of new IT tools and processes in the sales organization to improve its agility.

Starting Up 🌱

Before, following my passion to use internet technologies and innovative concepts to create new business models, I was undertaking various startup ventures. It began when joining Ship2B to work in the research of initiatives to promote a more sustainable production and consumption of consumer goods. From this exploration and after some failing attempts, Keyelp was born as a B2C ecommerce offering IoT solutions and services to foster sustainable practices for the hospitality sector.

Another imitative, which is still in operation, is SoloEdad a website offering consultation and solutions based on the Alexa voice assistant , including some skills to improve the caregivers' attendance to elders and their families.

Growing Up πŸš€

Going back to the beginning of my career, after graduating as an Electronics Engineer from La Salle University (UPC), I engaged on the R&D and engineering departments of different companies, teaming up as a FTE or as a freelance to design industrial equipment, automation solutions and even a complete calcium carbonate processing factory.

It was before I moved to Markem, where I’ve enjoyed a long period of professional growth that lasted more than 12 years. Markem-Imaje is currently the global leader supplying digital coding equipment, product identification and track-trace solutions. I started as a Project Manager supporting the local Spanish sales team, and from there my responsibilities evolved up to get on many leadership roles in the sales department and eventually becoming the Business Center Manager, reporting to the European General Manager and leading a staff of 20 persons that yielded a revenue of more than 9 M€.

After Markem being acquired by Dover, I moved up to an international role as KA Project Manager for the company’s strategic accounts channel. I was coordinating a multinational team composed by software, electro-mechanic and field service engineers that were working on offering complete solutions. Along this period, we introduced a recently launched software platform in major global clients, leading the transformation of the company from being mostly a printing equipment and consumables supplier, into a technological partner for these group of selected accounts.

To the Top πŸ—»

At this point an awesome opportunity came to me in 2010, to take the leadership of the ITW owned Allen Coding business (nowadays Diagraph). It was a global management position, reporting to the General Manager of the ITW Marking & Coding division. This business delivers a diversified range of traceability equipment, solutions and services, for highly regulated markets, as the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics.

As the Business Unit Manager, I had the assignment of turning around the unit by restructuring the organization, comprised by 45 employees, among UK and Spain, and a global distribution network. Due to the worsening of the financial crisis in Spain the tough decision of transferring the operations to Germany was taken. This was the trigger that led me to take another step up in my career and reinventing myself, as explained at the beginning of this story.
